One of the good things about living in Costa Rica is that there so many activities for staying busy and happy. Sportfishing is just one of them. Fisherman can practice their piscatorial pursuits at Lake Arenal or on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
Recently, the Instituto de Pesca y Acuicultura or INCOPESCA, as it is more commonly known, announced a new ‘free’ cell phone application called PezCa that offers information to both tourists and fishermen who reside here.
This new tool not only provides information about sport and commercial fishing but also tide predictions, lunar phases and enables fishermen to purchase fishing licenses on line. Other valuable features that the application has are intensity of sea currents and rip tides in certain areas. It also indicates the presence of “Red Tide,” and vedas which are fishing restrictions or periods when there is ban on fishing.
The new application is available for Android or IOs. It also can be found at www.pezca.org.
Happy fishing!
